Presiding over a high-level meeting at the governor house, he observed cellphones were being used most effectively by ringleaders from within their jail cells to guide their accomplices and mafia members involved in street and heinous crimes, kidnappings, dacoities, etc.
The only remedy, therefore, was to sever their contacts with the outside world for which high-grade jammers, therefore, be installed in jails throughout the province, he directed.
The meeting was attended by home minister Rauf Siddiqui, information adviser Salahuddin Haider, chief secretary Fazlur Rehman, home secretary Brigadier Ghulam Mohammad Mohtaram (Retd), Rangers director-general Major General Javed Zia, IGP Asad Jahangir, IG prisons Brigadier Ayaz Mughni (Retd), AIG special branch Fayyaz Ali Khan, regional police officer Niaz Siddiqui, DIG operations, acting CCPO Mushtaq Shah and other officers.
The governor appreciated the operation against criminals and narcotic dealers in Lyari and said overall the police had done a fine work.
